Sustainability & impact

Responsible growth, honestly reported.

We want AKEMO Ventures to be productive and responsible at the same time. Below we separate what we do today from what we are committed to building — and we publish figures only once they are verified.

Current practice

What we do today

  • Responsible land use

Farming our land carefully, with attention to soil structure and appropriate cultivation practices.

  • Local employment

Providing farm work and supervisory roles to people in and around Zirobwe.

  • Food security

Producing maize — a staple food and feed crop — for Uganda’s domestic market.

  • Community relationships

Working respectfully with neighbours and the local community around our farm.

  • Responsible practices

Using agricultural inputs carefully and in line with recommended guidance.

Future commitments

What we are building towards

  • Efficient water management

Designing irrigation and livestock water systems for efficient use as we develop horticulture and poultry.

  • Soil productivity

Building soil health through practices such as crop rotation and organic-matter management as operations mature.

  • Skills development

Training our team in good agricultural practice, safety, biosecurity and record-keeping.

  • Waste management

Planning for responsible handling of crop residues and, in future, poultry manure as a soil resource.

  • Long-term environmental responsibility

Considering environmental impact in every investment decision, and reporting honestly on progress.

Our reporting standard

No unsupported claims.

AKEMO Ventures does not currently hold organic, carbon or other sustainability certifications, and we do not claim them. Impact figures appear on this page only after they have been verified and approved.

Let’s build something lasting together.

We welcome conversations with buyers, suppliers, partners and organisations who share our commitment to responsible agricultural growth.
